What the Bible says about going to Heaven
The Bible tells us we can know for sure.
I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
The Bible tells us there is only one way.
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
The Bible tells us we are sinners.
Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
The fact that we are sinners has separated us from God and keeps us from getting into Heaven. Therefore, in order to get into Heaven we must be reconciled to God and have our sin forgiven.
The Bible tells us sin has a penalty that must be paid.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Revelation 20:14,15 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
If we pay this penalty ourselves it means an eternity in Hell for us. There is nothing else we can do to pay this penalty. Church membership, baptism, good works, etc, cannot pay this debt.
The Bible tells us Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sin.
I Corinthians 15:3, 4 “For I delivered unto first of all that which I also received, how thatChrist died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and thathe rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners,Christ died for us.”
I John 1:7 “…and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
Jesus Christ’s death was in our place and for the penalty of our sin. His sacrificial death and resurrection gives us the ability to be forgiven and reconciled to God. Jesus rose again and is able to save any who come to Him for salvation.
The Bible tells us to repent and trust Christ as Saviour.
Acts 20:21 “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shaltbelieve in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
You must be willing to turn to Christ from sin and ask Him to save you. Would you call upon him now and ask for forgiveness and to be your Saviour. You could pray similar to this…
Jesus, I know I am a sinner and need to be saved. I ask you to forgive me for my sin. I believe you died and rose again for me. I am putting all my faith and trust in you alone as my Saviour. I am asking you to save me now. Thank you Jesus, Amen.
